(More customer reviews)If you're good with making up stuff on the spot and you can convince others that you're telling the truth, this game is for you. I played this game at a Meetup on the Upper West Side of NYC. I got more points than anyone else because I convinced people that I was telling the truth when in fact I was bluffing. Here's how the game works:
Each card poses a question and has the correct answer on it. Sample questions in the game I played:
1 Why was there a shortage of coins in Japan in 1978?
2 How was a church in Germany constructed so the devil could not hide in it?
3 What did Henry Ford keep in a test tube in his office?
4 What did two men in San Francisco do longer than anyone for over nine hours? - no it wasn't that
The correct answers are:
1 Because of the video game Space Invaders
2 A circular shape
3 Thomas Edison's last breath
4 Shake hands
Each player looks at the question and answer. There are certain key words printed in red in each answer. If you decide to tell the true answer, you MUST use the words in red. If you decide to bluff you CANNOT use the words in red. Regardless of what you decide, you should have a bluff answer ready in case a player going ahead of you tells the true answer. Obviously there cannot be duplicate answers.
You should have more than one bluff in case someone takes your bluff answer, which happened to me. Also, if you're the last one answering and no one has told the true answer, you MUST tell the true answer, since one answer must be correct. You have to pay attention, be on your toes and be prepared to think fast with this game.
Everyone takes turns being the guesser or host. When I was the host I got the Japanese coins question. One player said Pac Man and another one said Space Invaders. Here in the U.S. Pac Man came out in the 80s, but was it released in the 70s in Japan? I went with Space Invaders and it turned out to be right. If you guess the right answer, you get a point. The person whose answer was chosen as true gets one point whether it's correct or a bluff.
The player with most points at the end of the game wins. It requires creative thinking, but it's cheap ($10 or less) and it's easy to take to any gaming event. You'll also have some laughs and learn a few things as well.
