I like the design where you could store your chess pieces inside the box and when you take them out to play, the box changes into a chess board... This Chinese chess set is of high quality. The pieces are made of plastic, but heavy - so feel durable. The chess board/box is made of wood and painted well. As shown in the picture, the grooves on the board are stain-brushed to be black. I used a white permanent marker to color the grooves to white, so they are easy for the eyes. My only complain is that the box is closed with magnets. This may look nice, but it is difficult to open the box because there is nothing to hold onto. Overall, the set is well crafted.
