(More customer reviews)When I was a child I used to play this game a lot. Now I'm 58 years old and bought it again. This a fun brain teaser that entertains me while my husband watches sports on TV or while there's not enough time to read or do something else, like when TV commercials are on, while I'm watching a movie.
Marble solitaire is a strategy game in which a player attempts to rid the game board of marbles by jumping pieces into empty spaces and removing jumped marbles, similar to jumping pieces in checkers. The ultimate goal of the game is to be left with one remaining marble in the game board's center space.
Legend has it that this game has been invented by a French nobleman imprisoned in the Bastille during the French Revolution. Another legend claims it has been created by the mathematician Pelisson to entertain Luis XIV who ruled from 1643-1715.
This wood solitaire board is small enough to hold with one hand and move the marbles with the other. It's made out of solid wood and there's place for you to store the marbles inside. Marbles are of a pretty blue color with a sheen to it that makes them look like little blue pearls.
One caveat: it's not recomended if you don't have good dexterity because the marbles are very close together.
It's cute enough to leave it on your coffee table. I highly recommend it.
