I once had a cribbage board with these metal pegs over 35 years ago. I like them because, unlike other pegs, they fit in the holes easily and do not fall out easily at all. Those wooden pegs with their strange shape for the holes in a cribbage board just don't "stay" that well at all. Above the tip (shaped like a regular "v"), the wooden pegs are too wide. When putting the wooden ones in place, they wobble and will fall all to easily out of the hole, which can lead to some arguments about where one had pegged up to! The plastic ones may stay in place and come in many colors. However, to me, they don't have the "weight" that a good cribbage peg should have. However, why would plastic seem "natural" in a nice maple or walnut cribbage board? These pegs (you will need two sets in order to accommodate four players), made of metal are two each in a package: gold, silver and black. There is a straight end (goes in the hole) and a top end with edges so that you can pick up and move the pegs easily while playing. If you play any of the corner, nobs, heels, skunk or game choices on some boards, you will need more than 2 sets of these pegs. I have four and that is sufficient. For most, 2 sets should suffice. The price is a good one as I have seen these sold elsewhere for up to $8 per peg in metal. They are also made by the same company that makes Royal playing cards. Well packaged, sleek and rather usable, I would recommend these over any other kind of pegs for playing cribbage. (Ask a sailor what he/she thinks!)
