(More customer reviews)I bought this set to get back into chess after 30 years. For the price, it's probably a good value. The pieces are fairly well made, though rather light. The workmanship on the board leaves much to be desired. The board is uneven and wobble, something that can be fixed by sanding the feet, though one wonders why that wasn't done in production. The wood is lacquered rather sloppily, but then, I'm a woodworker, and will probably make my own board next time. What would I get instead? I'd recommend getting a regulation vinyl mat board and nice heavy plastic pieces. It's easier to tote around and better for play. And a lot cheaper. If you want a wooden set that looks nice sitting out on a table, you'll have to spend a lot more money.
