(More customer reviews)While it's handy to have so many games in one place, with all the pieces contained tidily inside, the bottom line is that this game set ends up being less than the sum of it's parts. Because in order to achieve the tidy packaging, the game pieces are all very small, and this makes the games themselves unnecessarily hard to play. The mancala stones are literally smaller than Tic-Tacs, and the holes they rest in are way too small, too, so the stones are continually getting pushed out of their divots and falling all over the place no matter how careful you are. And it's hard for little kids to be careful about it. The wooden game surfaces are very smooth and slick, which means the checkers and chess pieces glide around more than they should, too. The design of the checkers themselves is poor - they're slippery and completely flat on both sides, so getting Kinged becomes a huge hassle because the top checker will NEVER stay put, and this becomes incredibly annoying very fast. On the Chinese checkers board, the size of the game board is too small - limited by the size of the wooden box itself, of course - which means the divots are all placed very close together. And this in turn makes it hard to pick up the marbles when they are all crowded next to each other...anyone with big fingers is in for another exercise in frustration. In the end, it's all a disappointment because just about every game in the set ends up being overly difficult, finicky, or annoying to play the way you're used to. Nice concept, poor execution.
