Farming Game Kids Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)We grew up with the adult version of the farming game. This is meant to introduce children to the concepts used in the adult game. The best part of this game is that unlike most "child sized" versions of adult games this is interesting and unique and a complex version of the adult game, just with scaled down game play (shorter) and a range of complexity suited to a child's developmental abilities.
Level three is of course the most like the adult version. My 8 year old nephew LOVED it. The only trouble is that I was hoping you could play with a range of children at once, given that we have a 4, 5, and 8 year old. It IS possible to play level one and level three at the same time, but the pace is not then suited to the 4 year old (who still has a Calvin ball mentality).
My 5 year old niece LOVED level two but thought that level three (as it should be) was too complex.
The 4 year old was really too young for any version of rules (he thought he got a card and got to land where-ever the dice landed.) But developmentally that is fairly appropriate.
All in all if you are looking for a game that you can play with any child, regardless of developmental range or age, it is the game I would MOST recommend of all of the scaled down adult games.
Here is a summary of skills (in my opinion, based on play):
Level 3: Multiplication, addition, scale, counting, strategy (limited, but existant)
Level 2: Counting, strategy, number sequence, minor addition (can teach it rather than require it as a preliminary skill), pattern recognition and matching, minor reading.
Level 1: Calvin Ball is quite possible. Color and pattern recognition. No reading or math required.
Again, this is the BEST children's game, maybe even compared to normal children's games and certainly compared to all other scaled down versions of adult games, by a long shot.
